Kindergarten
(5 - 6 years old)

The K1 and K2 programmes have been designed for children aged 5 and 6 years, respectively. The classroom setup prepares the children for a smooth transition from kindergarten to primary school. While the programmes build upon the knowledge and skills acquired in the nursery programme through the Montessori method of education, new concepts are introduced through other relevant teaching materials. The programme is child-centred and focuses on the formal mastery of reading, writing and arithmetic. Activities like roleplay, nature walks, water play and cooking are integrated into the curriculum to support learning. Children are also engaged in extracurricular activities like art, craft, dance, and music to help them discover their natural talent and abilities.

Here, they continue with the use of Montessori apparatus, supplemented by other appropriate teaching materials to reinforce mathematical and language concepts.

Thematic lessons have been incorporated into the K1 and K2 curriculums to widen the children’s topical knowledge and language while providing hands-on learning.

Parents have a choice of 2 electives in K2 programme:

  • K2 English Elective – all lessons excepting BM will be conducted in English
  • K2 Mandarin Elective – all lessons excepting BM and the English Language Workbook will be conducted in Mandarin

Areas covered for both electives are:

  • Thematic lessons
  • Bahasa Malaysia
  • Mathematics
  • Musical Skills (Musikgarten, USA)
  • Computer literacy (Just2easy, UK)
  • Living Values Education Programme by UNICEF
  • Personal Safety
  • Physical Education
