PROGRAMMES
NURSERY
At this age when their minds are the most absorbent, the Montessori Method is used to instill a love for learning and ignite curiosity in children through sensory-triggering materials and a comfortable, non-competitive environment.
Children develop practical living skills, sensory motor skills, language skills, science and mathematical skills, music skills, physical agility, and safety skills through work and play, coupled with didactic Montessori learning materials. For instance, children learn to care about themselves and to be courteous through Practical Life. Children practise hand washing, watering the plants, transferring items with spoons and ladles, putting away their toys and table manners with various Montessori materials.
We emphasise on the importance of developing moral values at a young age, and have implemented the Living Values Education Programme by UNICEF. This allows children to explore various universal moral values, which define their character when they grow up.
KINDERGARTEN
The K1 and K2 programmes have been designed for children aged 5 and 6 years, respectively. The classroom setup prepares the children for a smooth transition from kindergarten to primary school.
The child-centred programme focuses on the formal mastery of reading, writing and arithmetic. The thematic programme is integrated to support children’s learning, and we provide different themes every term to allow focused learning. In an enriching environment where children can take in their surroundings through sounds, sights and feels, they connect the dots between subjects within an overall theme like the environment or cultures. This makes learning enjoyable, meaningful and memorable.
At Peter & Jane Kindergarten, we have Mathematics and reading workbooks specifically crafted to provide children with well-rounded development in these two subjects. They are created in a way that allows children to learn at their own pace, giving them time to explore their interests with our materials.
